Configure the Signature Type section.

  1. Select the Signature Type, either Digital or eApproval, from the Signature Type menu. Both are valid for a library or a library content type. Only eApproval is valid for a list since a list item does not have a signature field. eApproval allows the user to enter credentials without manifestation of signature in the document.

The audit entries for eApproval and for digital signing will contain the following:

Signature Type Event Source Event Type Description
EApproval EApproval EApproval “Document Electronically approved by…”
Digital Signature SignEngine SignDigital “Document signed by…”
  2. Display Scope allows you to display the scope of the signature field on the Web part. This is applicable only for digital signatures.
  3. Display Status allows you to display the status of a signature field on the Web part. The status is initially set to valid. It will change to invalid if the signature field is signed and then invalidated. This is applicable only for digital signatures.
  4. Disable Changing of Credentials allows you to specify whether the User-ID should be modifiable for authentication.
  5. Digital Signature Field Protection allows you to lock the signature field once it has been signed, thus ensuring that another user cannot sign over the original signature.
  6. Hide from Item NextDocs Menu allows you to keep the feature from being displayed on the NextDocs menu.
