Site Content Types

A content type can be defined as a uniquely identifiable set of site columns or settings. As a group, the site columns become a “Site Content Type” which is a manageable and reusable structure that can easily be added to one or more document libraries and/or or lists.

Multiple site content types can be associated with a document library or list creating a central location for storing items with multiple formats.
