Key Formats

As discussed, the prefix and/or the suffix of a document numbering schema can contain metadata and/or a date format. If a key is designated, each of these values or combination of values will be assigned a unique sub-counter instead of a Current Index and will have its own sequence of numbers. The “current index” for each of the value combinations will appear in the sub-counters for the corresponding document numbering template rather than the Current Index field for the template itself. To view the sub-counters, navigate to the NextDocs Document Numbering Administration screen and click on the Sub-counters link to the right of the given template.

Example:

For a key that has multiple variables, such as State, Start Date, a sub-counter would be generated for each combination of State value and Start Date value. Enter the values separated by a “;”.
