Metadata Formats

Metadata can be included in the prefix and/or suffix of the document numbering schema if it conforms to the following requirements:

• The metadata field must exist in the current environment and should be a required field as the system will not assign a document number if it the metadata is blank.
• Metadata must be enclosed in “[ ]” brackets.
• The metadata name must agree in case and spelling with the metadata in the environment.

When the document is saved, the metadata name and the brackets will be replaced with the metadata value assigned to that document.
