Validation settings

The Validation settings link is used to configure item validation. Column validation provides rudimentary validation on the column information before it is committed to the list.

  1. Click on Validation settings.
    • Formula allows you to specify a validation formula that can be evaluated when items are added to the list. Enter the formula by selecting the columns from the Insert Columns options. Use SharePoint formulas and functions to create a statement that must be evaluated to True before the item can be saved to the list.
    • User Message allows you to create a user message to be displayed if the validation fails.
  2. Click on the Save button to save your settings.
