Deploy the Solutions to the Site Collection

A solution, in simple terms, would be the module that you will use in your web application, such as Document Management, URL, Regulatory, Clinical, etc. When you deploy a solution, it is unpacked and its elements are copied to their appropriate places.

Note: If your solution was globally deployed, it will indicate Globally deployed under the Deployed To column to the right of the solution.

SharePoint solutions are either deployed globally or targeted to a particular web application, depending on whether the solution contains web application scoped Features. If the solution is deployed globally, you do not have to deploy it to each site collection you create. If your solution is not deployed globally, you will need to deploy it to each new web application.

To deploy a solution:

  1. In Central Administration, select Systems Settings.
  2. Under Farm Management, select Manage farm solutions.

  3. Click on the solution.
    Note: If the Status column shows Deployed, you do not have to performa any of these steps.
  4. Click on Deploy Solution.
  5. Click OK.
