Smart Document Feature

The Smart Document Feature is automatically activated when the NextDocs Clinical eTMF Module is deployed. For more information on the Smart Document Feature, refer to the NextDocs Smart Document Guide.

CAUTION:
Smart Document components are created without default entries. Smart Document components can be updated through the use of an ndp file.

Smart Document Feature activation provides automatic creation of the following components:

  • NextDocs Template Library - houses the authoring templates used by the Smart Document Feature to create new documents.
  • The NextDocs Master Template Library - used to facilitate the use of a template across site collections for multi-site collection implementations.

    The system will search the libraries and template types for the correct template to use in the following order:

    • Dynamic Template in the NextDocs Template Library,
    • Dynamic Template in the NextDocs Master Template Library,
    • Standard Template in the NextDocs Template Library,
    • Standard Template in the NextDocs Master Template Library.
  • Content Type List – defines the properties associated with each content type along with the characteristics of the properties.
  • Document Inventory List – houses the information needed to define by domain, group and artifact, which template and parent content type to assign, where the document is to reside, and whether to apply an autoname schema.
