Station

The Station info area stores information on the stations in your setup. Each station corresponds to a computer that hosts an Aurea CRM database.

Each station requires a station record that refers to the station itself, and records for all stations that the station communicates with:

  1. Define all stations on the main office (see Defining Stations) and communicate the station records as part of the initial data stock download, see Data Stock Download.

The Station info area is available in both the Rights (see Station in the CRM.core Administrator Guide) and Communication modules. The two info areas are identical except for the context menu:

  • The context menu in the Rights module contains the entries Languages and Distribution Logic, see Assigning Languages in the CRM.core Administrator Guide and Distribution Logic.
  • The context menu in the Communication module contains the entries Distribution Logic, Input, Output, see Starting Communication.

Defining Stations

To configure stations for communication:

  1. Define the station as described in Defining a Station.

  2. Set one station as the Main Office and one station as the catalog maintenance station (Aut.Cat.Maintenance field), see Communicating Catalogs.
  3. Enter the station's e-mail address in the E-mail addr . field on the Address tab for stations that communicate via e-mail, see Communicating via E-mail.
  4. The following settings are available on the General tab:

    • Verify the target station's number: Enable this option to determine that the system should verify that the communication file is intended for this station before inputting the file. If the station number in the communication file does not match the current station's number, the process is canceled.
    • Com.Mon - Com.Sun: Enable these check boxes to determine the days of the week on which data can be output to this station. All days are enabled by default.

You can disable one or more days, for example to carry out maintenance.

Note: These days only affect communication initiated via the command line or from the Station info area. Manual communication (started from the Communication info area) is not affected, see Starting Communication. You cannot use default values (View > Default Values) to enter the communication days.
    • Directory: By default, directories for communication files are named according to the station number, >> Directory structure. You can specify a different directory name here, e.g. to name directories according to the station's name (e.g. .. \main office\del instead of .. \1\del etc.).

Aurea recommends retaining the default settings.

  5. Information on the communication process and automatic catalog maintenance is entered by the system on the Comm. Overview and Cat. Maintenance tabs, see Comm. Overview Tab and Communicating Catalogs.
  6. Use the Delete tab to configure how deleted records are handled:

    • Delete automatically: Enable this option to automatically delete records with an active delete code from the local database once the time period in the Delete Cycle in Days field has expired, see Communicating Deleted Records.
    • Delete Cycle in Days: Once the number of days entered here (default:7) have expired, the system checks for records with an active delete code. If you do not enter a value here, records are deleted each time communication takes place.
    • Last Deletion: The time records are last deleted is entered here automatically.
  7. Use the Synchronization tab to determine how often databases at branch offices should be synchronized with the main office. Synchronization is used to ensure that branch offices have all the data they require, see Synchronization.

Enter the synchronization interval in the Sync.Cycle ( Days) field in the branch office station records (e.g. every 28 days). If you do not enter a value, the databases are synchronized each time the stations communicate.

You only need to enter a synchronization interval for branch offices.

  8. Select Distribution Logic from the context menu if you want to define conditions applied to the communication data for each station, see Distribution Logic.
