protocol.exe

The protocol.exe file is included with Aurea CRM. Upon starting Aurea CRM for the first time, the file is registered as the protocol handler for all links that start with update :/ /. Executing the exe file also registers it.

When calling such links, protocol.exe checks whether the Aurea CRM win main module is running. If so, the contents of the link are transferred to that instance. If the Aurea CRM win main module is not running, the system attempts to start the Aurea CRM win main module from the directory containing protocol.exe.

Aurea CRM uses these functions:

• For links in e-mails that open records (Edit > Send Record as Link to).
• For popup windows with links to messages or reminders.
• In reports defined using the Output link option. A link is created for each record in the report.

• Call links from other applications if Aurea CRM is installed and protocol.exe is registered.
• Create reports that include links to other levels and serves as a start page.
