Configuring Communication

Learn the steps to configure communication.

To configure communication on the main office:

  1. Switch to the Rights module:
    1. Define the stations that should communicate with each other, see Station.

Configure one station as the main office by enabling the Main Office field in the station record. The data model can only be edited on this station.

Configure one station as the catalog maintenance station by enabling the Aut.Cat.Maintenance field in the station record. The Catalog Maintenance (KW) info area is only maintained on this station. Changes to variable catalogs are communicated to all other stations by the catalog maintenance station, see Communicating Catalogs.

Define access rights for the remaining stations that prevent users from making changes to the Catalog info area, to prevent data inconsistencies, see Defining Access Rights for Variable Catalogs in the CRM.core Administrator Guide.

    2. Define the languages available in Aurea CRM and assign the desired languages to the stations, see Defining Languages and Assigning Languages in the CRM.core Administrator Guide.
    3. Define reps and logins, see Defining Reps in the CRM.core Administrator Guide.
    4. Define a communication user (e.g. "COM") and only assign this user (and the SU) access to the Communication module to ensure that data cannot be overwritten by concurrent communication processes, see Module Access Rights, System Locks and Process Tracking in the CRM.core Administrator Guide.
  2. Switch to the Communication module:
    1. Use the C.Format and Distribution Logic info areas to determine which data to communicate, see Communication Format and Distribution Logic.
    2. Define the connections between stations in the Communication info area, and assign communication formats to the connections, see Communication Info Area.
  3. Create a data stock download and input it on the branch offices, see Data Stock Download.

Once the data stock download has been input on the branch offices, changes to data can be automatically communicated between the stations, see Communication Steps.
