Working with Formats

Learn how to work with formats.

Because of the relationships between formats (a format may reference other formats), adding a format to the package may result in a wide range of other formats being added to the package automatically. For example, a rights format can contain references to a large number of other formats, such as workflows and triggers.

If you have only updated a format, but not the items it references, you can enable Do not include all dependencies for the format (see Items in a Process ) to only include the format in the package, without the related items. The related items still need to be present on the target system when importing the package, i.e. this option only applies to package upgrades.

If you edit a format on the production systems, any changes is overwritten the next time the package is imported. To retain the edited version of the format in the target database, you need to create a copy of the format on the production system before editing the format, see Customizing Package Formats on the Target Station.

When transferring formats between systems, Aurea.CRM automatically keeps track of the package version where the format was last updated (added/edited), see Package Version Number and Format Versions . This allows you to track format versions and compare the version present on various systems.
