Backing Up Formats

Learn how to back-up formats before upgrading the template.

If you want to edit a format included in a package on the target station, you should first create a backup of the format to prevent the edited format from being overwritten when next upgrading the template. Creating a backup adds a copy of the original package with "<T>" added to the start of the format name. You can then edit the format with the original name on the target station (the format continues to be referenced correctly by other items as the reference occurs by name). When importing the format in a package, the backup (with "<T>" in the name) is updated with the format in the import package and the live format remains unchanged. You can revert to the format in the package at any time.

To create a backup of the format included in a package in Aurea.CRM win:

  1. Select the format in the Format info area and select Create Backup from the context menu.
  2. Click the Create Backup button in the Load and Save dialogs for formats.

"<T>" (for Template) is added to the start of the backup copy's name. This format is updated when importing the package. The live format is linked to the backup format. Only one backup copy is allowed per format.

To revert to the format in the package (in Aurea.CRM win):

  1. Select the backup in the Format info area and select Restore Backup from the context menu.
  2. Select the live format and click on Restore Backup in the Load or Save dialog.

The live format is deleted and the "<T>" is removed from the backup's name.
