Base Packages

Base packages are packages that only contain items that are common to multiple verticals, and can be imported into any supported vertical's database.

Base packages can only be defined on stations with station numbers 10,000 and 10,010-10,014. When defining packages on a base station, only those items (info areas, fields and catalogs) common to all supported verticals can be added to the package. Designer units are only displayed if they have been defined accordingly (i.e. vertical ID = 0), >> Number Ranges in Aurea.CRM in the CRM.core Administrator Guide.

Note that some base info areas have different codes and/or fields and field numbers. These info areas and fields share a common base info area code and field numbers, which can be used in XML reports and to define variables. These base IDs are displayed in the corresponding item's overview, alongside the vertical-specific ID (taken from the vertical version of the database used to define the base package, i.e. if you are using a BTB database to define the base package, the vertical-specific IDs displayed are those used by the BTB vertical).

When exporting the package, the base ID is included in the ZIP file. The IDs are then converted to the appropriate vertical IDs when importing the package into the target database. Items whose ID has been converted in this manner are assigned the status "Converted" and listed in the import summary.

The following table lists the available base station numbers and the number ranges used by fields, catalogs etc.:

The following restrictions apply to base packages:

  • Stocktaking and migration formats cannot be transferred between verticals. Stocktaking formats can be added to base packages, but can only be imported into the same vertical version as the format was taken from (i.e. if the base station uses the BTB vertical, stocktaking formats added to the package can only be used by the BTB vertical).
  • References to fixed catalog values in Variable values (Z6) records need to be manually corrected after importing the package, if the fixed catalog's codes differ between the vertical used by the base station and the target station.
  • Fields numbers in variable conditions (i.e. defined in the Variable values (Z6) info area) are not automatically converted to the corresponding field number when importing the package on a different vertical than that used by the base station. update therefore recommends always using the base field numbers when defining variable conditions, >> Vertical Independent Configuration .
