Format Versions
Learn about the format versions in CRM.cockpit.
Whenever a format is exported as part of the package, the package's version number is written to the Version (cockpit package) field and the name is written to the Name (cockpit package) field in the Format (FT) info area in any of the following cases:
- The Version (cockpit package) field is empty.
- The format has been edited in the source database since the last export, i.e. the format's modification date (Updated on field) is more recent than the last export date.
- The format has been added to the package since the last export. Note that the Version (cockpit package) field may already contain a version number if the format is included in another package. update therefore recommends activating the history for formats.
The version number is stored in the format on both the source and target stations. This allows you to determine the package version of the last export and to determine if the formats on both the source and target stations are identical.
Example: The package (version 8.0.0.0) initially contains formats A and B. The Version (cockpit package) field is empty in all formats.
The package is exported, but only format A is included in the export. The package's version is automatically increased to 8.0.0.1, and is entered in the Version (cockpit package) of format A.
The package is exported a second time, including both formats A (unchanged) and B. The package's version number is increased to 8.0.0.2. The entry in the Version (cockpit package) of format A remains unchanged (8.0.0.1) and the Version (cockpit package) of format B is set to 8.0.0.2.
