Base Rate

In the example above, John Smith uses fixed rate as his base rate ($0.985/kWh from 9/1/2007 to 10/1/2007, and $0.935/kWh from 10/1/2007 to 11/1/2007).

Base Rate Sample

Overtake Index Type

The overtake index type is used to obtain the overtake rate for the overtake amount of usage calculation. Index rate look up can be different for different Customer groups (such as “core” and “non-core” Customers for some natural gas LDCs). Undertake and overtake charges are similar to other Index rate charges.

Undertake Index Type

The undertake index type is used to obtain the undertake rate for the undertake amount of usage calculation. Index rate look up can be different for different Customer groups (such as “core” and “non-core” Customers for some natural gas LDCs).

Overtake Adder

This is the extra adder on top of the overtake rate. For instance, if the overtake rate is $0.76 and the overtake adder is $0.0123, then the total overtake charging rate amounts to 0.7723 ($0.76 + $0.0123)

Undertake Adder

This is the extra negative adder on top of the undertake rate. For instance, if the undertake rate is $0.76 and the undertake adder is -$0.0123, then the total undertake charging rate is 0.7477 (= $0.76 - $0.0123)

In the example shown above, John smith’s overtake rate index is GDD Max, and Undertake Index is GDD Min, the overtake adder is 0.0123 and undertake adder is -0.0123
