Updating Packages

Learn how to upgrade an existing package.

To upgrade an existing package, import an upgrade package (i.e. one exported using the Upgrade option, see Exporting Packages ) into the target database, see Importing Packages . The system checks that the target database contains a package with the same name and with the same or a higher version number than the version used as the basis for generating the upgrade package on the source station (i.e. the version selected in the Upgrade for cockpit package drop-down list when exporting). If no previous version of the template is present, the import is terminated.

If different versions of an item are present in the package and in the target database, you need to determine which version of the item to retain before items can be imported, see Match-up.

Note: If items have been edited in the target database since the last import, but have not been edited in the source database, these items are not overwritten by the import process and are not listed when matching up records.

The following limitation applies to packages that are imported when upgrading a package:

  • Reps are matched up by login, see Match-up . If no matching login is found, the rep is added as a new record.
