Supported Billing Models

Learn about the supported billing model in CIS.

CIS has invoicing functions to support different billing models for the deregulated energy markets - such as Supplier Consolidated, Rate Ready, Bill Ready or Dual Billing.

Each billing model has its own billing process. In the Supplier Consolidated, the Utility sends meter data to CIS. CIS then calculates the charges and creates the invoice. In these models, the invoice details are stored in the invoiceDetail table before the print engine prints the invoice and sends it to the Customers.

Where as, in the Rate Ready or Bill Ready models, CIS sends the rate code or rate amount to the Utility through 814_C transaction. The Utility then calculates the bill and sends the invoice to the Customer. The Utility then collects the payments from Customers and sends the invoice to CIS through 810 for energy charges plus taxes and 867 for meter read transactions as references. For details on transactions, see Transactions.
