Spotlight Search

Using the Spotlight search you can now access your CRM data.

By making the CRM.pad content searchable you can improve the user experience of CRM.pad application and encourage its usage on iPad devices.

Your CRM.pad users can deep search for information within the CRM.pad application even when the application is offline. They can search for activities and data and pull up the resulting records by selecting the search results.

Spotlight search within an iPad device is shown in the screen shot below:

The search results only display information that you have configured to be searchable in our CRM.Solution, this allows you to control what can be searched as well as display the right amount of information required by your users to complete their tasks.

Some of the situations the search might prove useful are listed below:

  • User is looking for company contact info to contact a company.
  • User is looking for person contact info to contact the person.
  • User is looking for specific text. For example, a meeting summary or the content of an email.
  • User is looking for details of an offer. He could search for the offer number, and then directly to the record in the CRM.pad application.

Prerequisites

Spotlight search in CRM solutions is an enterprise feature and as such requires an enterprise license. It is based on the enhanced search functionality implemented in iOS9. It allows you to access information within your applications.

You have to make your CRM application data available for spotlight search to index and make them available offline to your users. You administrator has to activate this feature in the CRM application by setting the respective web configuration parameters. For more information, see the Spotlight Search Support topic in the CRM.pad Administrator Guide.

Using the Spotlight Search

To use the Spotlight search:

  1. Swipe down on your home screen to reveal the search field.

  2. Type a search term to get the search results. For example, “Aurea softwaretest company” in the screenshot below:

Each item in the search result has “Thumbnail image”, “Title”, and “Content”.

  3. Select an item from the search list to open the selected record in the CRM.pad application.
Note: Your administrator can configure the thumbnail image to be used in one of three different ways:
Note: As an image from the record. For example, a photo or logo from the PersonRecord.
Note: As a CRM.pad application icon using a specific color.
Note: As a specific image for this area. For example, a pictogram of a person.
