Collections Process and Switch Holds

Switch Holds is a market-driven rule in Texas. This means that a Customer is not able to switch to another Supplier until they pay their overdue balance with their current Supplier. If a switch-hold is placed on their account, it is removed after the overdue balance is paid and processed. While a switch-hold applies, if the Customer is disconnected for not paying, they need to pay the Supplier their overdue balance to get their electricity turned back on.

CIS provides the functionality for Suppliers to apply switch holds to their Customer’s account. For more information on Switch Holds, see Switch Holds.
