Customer Hierarchy

CIS provides extensive functionality to help retail electric providers organize their Customers in logical hierarchies.

There are two structural formats that can be used while defining the hierarchy:

  • Organization Master Format - Used when you operate from multiple locations. For example, when you have central headquarters and regional offices based on corporate or franchise locations. For example, the image on top shows a commercial Customer with central headquarters and regional offices in Dallas and Houston. The Houston office is further broken down into Corporate and franchise locations.
  • Location Master Format - Used when you operate from a single location and provide multiple services. The hierarchies based on Location Master format allows you to quickly navigate to different levels in the hierarchy.

Understanding levels in a hierarchy

The following image shows a Customer with a gas and electric service account.

You can easily find the account's master level in the organizational hierarchy by looking at the hierarchy trail located below the top level navigation. For example, the account in the image falls under the master level - Dunkin' Donuts East, which itself is under Dunkin' Donuts Texas, its own master level in the hierarchy.

You can also use the dropdown next to the levels in the hierarchy trail to view and navigate to more accounts at the same level.
