Creating a technical user and setting up domino privileges

CRM.connector uses Lotus Notes API to access the Domino Server environment.

Lotus Notes client installation on the connector machine is required since Lotus Notes doesn’t provide an isolated API package but only full installations.

Note: Aurea recommends the use of Lotus Notes 8.5.3. FP3 for your Installation of connector for Domino. Alternatively you can use version 8.5.1. FP 5.

The use of Lotus Notes 8.5.2. is not supported because of a bug in the Lotus Notes API which has impact on connector functionality.

This recommendation only concerns the Lotus Notes installation on the connector server not the clients for the end users.

CRM.connector uses a service account for authentication in the Domino environment. This technical account must have the following rights in the Domino environment:

  1. Manager, including delete documents, access to:
    1. The file names.nsf in the users Roaming Profile folder (Note: this right is solely needed for contact person synchronization via Roaming Profile)
    2. The file [username]. nsf in the mail directory (the mail data base file for each user)
  2. Reader access to the servers global address book (names.nsf) in the server root.

CRM.connector uses the credentials from the local Lotus Notes installation to access the Domino Server environment where it takes the username of the last user logged into Lotus Notes, therefore this client should solely be used by exactly this technical user.

The password of this user is stored encrypted in the Users.xml file.

Note: It is required, that the account under which connector service is running (by default it's the "Local System" account), has full access to the notes.ini of the technical user used to access Domino Server.
Note: CRM.connector doesn’t require any adoption of the end user's rights but only if you use the feature "Store link to Lotus Notes emails in Aurea CRM", where users will need read access to other users mailboxes.
