Managed properties
Below is the Managed Properties screen in the Search Schema:

Note:
The Search Schema may be defined in Central Administration as well as in the Bonzai Intranet Site Collection. Each of the Managed Properties is mapped to one or more crawled properties. If mapped to more than one crawled property a single search will return any matching results from the crawled properties.
A crawled property is created by the SharePoint Search Service for each of the User Profile Properties that contains values. These values may be populated in a number of ways, including:
- Importing values from Active Directory
- Editing values in the user MySite Profile Pages
