Environments
Learn about migrating a Bonzai Intranet site collection from two sample environments - a "source" environment to a second "destination" environment.
In both environments the URL for the Bonzai Intranet site is https://bankgroup.bonzai-intranet.com
.
You can consider this migration scenario is one where we are moving the site to a new farm and keeping the same URL.
Prerequisites for migration
Do the following before attempting to migrate a Bonzai Intranet site collection irrespective of the method used:
- Go through the below guides:
- Attach or detach content databases in SharePoint Server
- Prepare to back up and restore farms in SharePoint 2013
- Consult the Bonzai Intranet installation documentation or use an existing farm configured with Bonzai Intranet.
- Web application - By default the web application has a content database which does not need to have the same name as the database in the source environment.
- Blob Cache configured for the web application
- Object Cache accounts configured for the web application
- Services created and running:
- Managed Metadata Services
- Search Service Application
- Set
PreferredName
managed property to sortable - User Profiles Service Application with Bonzai Intranet properties:
- ImportantMessagesDismissed
- SiteDirectoryFavourites
- WeatherLocation
- WeatherMeasure
- Bonzai Intranet solutions deployed in the destination environment (installation is outside the scope of this guide)
- Any third-party solutions for features used in the source site collection deployed in the destination farm (installation and configuration is outside the scope of this guide)
- Any other applicable customizations you require (installation and configuration is outside the scope of this guide)
The following items are required in the destination farm:
In fact, for simplicity it may be easier if it is not named the same. For example CONTENT
on source side can be named as CONTENT_TEMP
on destination side.
