Introduction

This guide provides instructions on how to configure and generate audit logs.

An audit log is a non-modifiable, secure, computer-generated time-stamped audit trail that independently records the operator entries and actions that create, modify, or delete electronic records in the system with date and the time.

Each audit record is appended to an existing audit log and does not hide previously recorded information. No audit entries are deleted, modified or replaced.

By default, audit log entries include the event, the username and both local and server-based time/date stamps. The audit log records are retained indefinitely unless they are manually removed from the system. The audit log can be easily exported and saved to Excel for advanced sorting, filtering, and analysis.

The audit log provides a history of all document activities. For example, the audit log contains details of users who participated in a review cycle and an approval cycle of a document by recording the names and the dates for all users involved in the process.

The document audit log records all events in a chronological order along with the date and the time, both local and server-based. The audit entries are merged with the SharePoint audit entries when they are stored in a SharePoint content database.

This document contains information in relation to the audit log entries for the SOP solution. The audit log event details included in this document contains all audit log event types, including the events that are replaced or are no longer captured.
